Learning the Annie Sloan Method - Cost $100 (Formerly called Chalk Paint® 101)
This beginning level Chalk Paint® course is taught by a certified Chalk Paint® stockist! You will learn four hands-on painting techniques:
- Flat Finish
- Textured Finish with all 4 wax finishes
- Two Color Distressed
**All paint and supplies are provided for use during the workshop.
Come dressed to paint!
Paint your own piece with Chalk Paint® - Cost $100
* Piece must be approved before workshop. A small side table, stool, small bench, etc. will be acceptable.
Bring your own small piece of furniture or 2 small wooden cabinet doors to our studio space. Use our paint, waxes and tools, and we will walk you through the process to a finished piece, or the start of a much larger one (cabinets).
What you learn:
- Basic paint application- how to apply the worlds best paint to your piece.
- Distressing We will cover the best methods to complete a distressed finish. This isn't everyones cup of tea, but will show the best placement on furniture. Due to time, distressing will be restricted to edges only.
- Clear Wax How to seal and protect your furniture with Clear Chalk Paint® Wax. You will use Annie Sloan tools to complete this step.
- Dark, Black, and White Waxes (Colored Waxes) Learn how to age and add patina with Annie Sloan’s colored waxes. If all over color wax is wanted, this may be completed at home.
- Aftercare Learn how to care for and maintain your piece once painted and waxed.
- Bring a small piece of furniture ( NO LARGER than 24″ x 20″) or two small kitchen cabinet doors. Pieces should be in great condition, No major flaws (deep scratches, water rings, etc) that involve additional prep. Suggestions are a small side table, or perhaps a cabinet door or drawer from a larger piece you’d like to paint at home. No chairs please, extra spindles and nooks and crannies take extra time to complete. If you can’t carry the piece in by yourself, in one trip, without help, then you need to select a different piece.
- We reserve the right to refuse pieces too large for completion in this workshop and will reschedule you for another date.
- This workshop is for wooden furniture or cabinets only.
- Please bring a piece for interior use
- You will choose ONE Chalk Paint® color from our fabulous color choices. Sorry, no custom color mixing or layering colors in this class! (You can learn those techniques in our Learning the Annie Sloan Method workshop.)
- Avoid pieces with slats, extra spindles and intricate details. (added time for these is needed)
- Workshop fee is PER PERSON. No extras are allowed in the shop during workshop times.
- Large frames are ok, but would refrain from bringing mirrors or glass. We want to avoid accidents, as they do tend to happen on occasion.
The fee for this class is $100, prepayment is required. This workshop ends promptly after 3 hours. If you require extra time to complete your piece, you will be charged an additional fee of $50 per hour, with a maximum of 2 hours.
